When we first bought the house, we didn't think we had the budget to redo the kitchen right away. We were planning on living with the shingled craziness for at least a year.
Until I went to open a cabinet and the cabinet door fell off.
NO THANK YOU. I have two kids who require hot meals every three hours. I'll get creative. So we bootstrapped a kitchen remodel on a shoestring budget and never looked back.
Here's the result. Simple, clean, and user-friendly.
Requirements: white-on-white, a huge industrial stainless steel sink (no dividers!), open shelves for day-to-day dishes, a pretty yet understated backsplash, and my big splurge: a quartz waterfall countertop. We took some of the reclaimed barnwood from a hallway wall and used it for an accent on the back of the island.
I'm so happy we did this right away. We had plenty of other projects to take on, so the least we could do is create a clean and sane place to prepare our food.
